2010/2011 Season

19th December 2010 - U17 League Update - Rescheduled Fixtures from TODAY

Assuming all U17 games are off today we have rescheduled fixtures to 2nd January 2011 and would ask you to do your utmost to play on that date – we will allow clubs to AGREE another date as long as it is on or before 23rd January and is notified before Xmas – we will update the website assuming 2nd Jan and revise if you notify a different date.

Affected games are Coalville/Bosworth (confirmed as 23/01/11), Harboro/Loughboro (confirmed as 23/01/11) and South/Lutterworth (TBA) as Jimmies/Melton was conceded.

18th December 2010 - Youth County Cup Update - Outstanding Fixtures

Most County Cup games scheduled for Sunday 19th December are off - we are assuming that they will all be off and will all need to be rescheduled.

The competition rules require that games are rescheduled for the “next available Sunday” – for the avoidance of doubt we have decided that Sunday 2nd January 2011 will be designated as the "next available Sunday" but we are happy to accept fixtures being rescheduled on Sunday 9th January 2011 provided both clubs AGREE i.e. it’s the 2nd if you can’t agree the 9th. Affected games are as follows - please can you let us know your rescheduled dates asap and definitely before Xmas – we will assume 2nd if not notified otherwise by then - dates will be added when notified.

12th December 2010 - U17 League Update - Remaining Fixtures

Further to yesterday’s update we have worked through the outstanding fixtures in light of today’s results and postponements and have concluded that the following would be the best way to see the U17 league through to a logical conclusion by 31st January 2011 weather permitting – the re-scheduled fixtures are as follows:

Market Harborough v Loughborough – clubs have sorted this for next weekend 19th December 2010

Oadby Wyggs v Market Harborough – we have scheduled this for 9th January as both teams are free due to liquidated fixtures with Vipers/Belgrave

South Leics  v Melton – we have scheduled this for 23rd January cos neither have first round cup fixtures

Coalville v Syston – will have to be 30th January unless both clubs are happy to play earlier – either midweek or 2nd January

Hopefully this will save a lot of phone calls – please can U17 contacts let me know if they have any problems with this by Wednesday 15th December.

League table and fixtures will be updated asap but it will take a while as Henri is away.

11th December 2010 - U17 League Update

We have reviewed the U17 league position and have determined those clubs which will be removed from the formal competition. Vipers have withdrawn from the league as they are unable to put out a team at this time – we appreciate them taking this decision themselves and we wish them well for the future and hope to see some of their lads as Colts next season. Belgrave have been removed from the formal competition as they are unable to put a team out without including a number of U18s in their side – we assume they have advised their opposition that that has been the case for those games already played – we would ask that those of you that have future fixtures with them try to honour them as (junior) Colts fixtures if you are comfortable to do so, in order that their lads continue to get some rugby – again we hope to see them as Colts next season. Both sides results to date will be removed from the league table in order to avoid any distortion to the final league positions.

For those that remain in the competition it is vital that all games are completed by 16th January 2010 to allow for LRU U17 Cup competition to start on 23rd January 2010 and for teams to be nominated for the national U17 competitions at the end of January (there is an opportunity for those that have a bye in the first round of the cup to play an outstanding fixture on the 23rd January) – you are reminded that games can be played midweek under lights provided a referee is available – now that we are clear which clubs remain in the formal competition we would ask you to schedule outstanding fixtures between yourselves and to notify revised dates to youth-comps@leicsru.net by next Wednesday 15th December 2010. If we don’t get replies by then we will set dates for you which may not be as sympathetic to your known commitments as you would wish.

You are reminded that players must be registered by 31st December 2010 to be eligible for the national competitions.

2nd December 2010 - Mini/Midi Festival Update for 5th December 2010

Hinckley hosted Preliminary festival is off - new date is 6th February 2011.

Melton hosted Preliminary festival is off - new date is 23rd January 2011.

Oakham hosted Preliminary festival is off - new date is 30th January 2011.

30th November 2010 - Youth Competition Update

LRU Mini/Midi (U9-U12) Preliminary Festivals

IF preliminary festivals cannot be played this weekend (5/12) they should re-arranged ASAP to a Sunday agreed by all teams – if an earlier date cannot be found the preliminary festivals must take place on 6th February 2011 (this latter date was reserved for this purpose in the competition dates issued at the end of August) – clubs to notify revised dates asap to youth-comps@leicsru.net.

LRU Youth (U16-U13) Cup Competition

Games not played on 28/11 or 5/12 (or later – perish the thought) should be re-arranged asap by agreement where possible bearing in mind that the rules of the competition require postponed County Cup/Plate matches to take priority over all other fixtures other than RFU organised events – it is essential that matches are completed at least one week before the subsequent round in any particular competition – you are reminded that games can be played midweek under lights provided a referee is available – clubs to notify revised dates asap to youth-comps@leicsru.net – if dates are not notified by Thursday 10th December a date will be set by the Competitions Secretariat.

LRU U17 League Competition

7th November 2010 - Midi/Mini Preliminary Festival Updated Rules and Running Order

Updated rules, team sheets, score cards and running order for the forthcoming preliminary festivals have been sent to club reps.

All items have also been placed on the website HERE - click on age group for more info.

Hinckley have confirmed that that the festival they are hosting will be on 5th December 2010.

Oakham have confirmed that that the festival they are hosting will be on 5th December 2010.

Melton have confirmed that that the festival they are hosting will be on 5th December 2010.

Bosworth have confirmed that the festival they are hosting will be on 21st November 2010.

1st November 2010 - Midi/Mini Preliminary Festival Draw

The draw for the midi/mini (U9-U12) preliminary festivals was completed at the Youth Committee meeting this evening.

The draw has been posted on the individual age group pages - off of youth competitions page HERE.

The first drawn club to host - festivals to be held on 21st November or 5th December.

30th October 2010 - Midi/Mini Competition Entry

Entries have now closed - final position is below - draw will take place Monday 1st November at Youth Committee meeting.

24th October 2010 - Midi/Mini Competition Entry

The closing date for the 2010/2011 season LRU County Midi/Mini (U9-U12) Competition is strictly Sunday 31st October 2010.

The draw will be made at the youth meeting on 1st November 2010. If you’ve not submitted please do so NOW.

2nd October 2010 - Midi/Mini Competition Entry Form

The entry form for the LRU County Midi/Mini (U9-U12) Competition has been sent to club representatives also available HERE – the deadline for return is strictly Sunday 31st October 2010.

The format of the preliminary festivals is unchanged from last season – these must be played on either 21st November 2010 or on 5th December 2010 - the draw for the preliminary festivals will take place at the Youth Committee meeting on 8th November 2010.

The format of finals day will be discussed at the Youth Committee meeting on 1st November 2010 – the date for finals day is 20th March 2011 - venues TBA.

Entry forms for the (Syston) Tag (U7-U8) Festival will be available in January 2011.

31st August 2010 - County Cup Update

All County Cup Entries are now in - big thanx to all of you - just need cheques from 5 - you know who you are.

29th August 2010 - Revised Youth Competition Dates

We have had to change some of the dates of some rounds of the 2010/2011 LRU Youth Competitions due to clashes with events which are beyond our control - specifically the LandRover Trophy and some School Of Rugby activities – we have done this to avoid young players being confronted with difficult choices – we hope to do better next year.

The new dates are available HERE - we hope these changes will not cause you too much disruption – we hope but cannot guarantee that there will be no further changes.

10th August 2010 - Under 17s League Fixtures now correct on Rugby First

The Under 17 League Fixtures are now correct on Rugby First and the link from the Youth Competitions page has been re-instated.

9th August 2010 - Under 17s League Fixtures Corrected

The Under 17 League fixtures available on the website from 4/8 to 9/8 were incorrect - the original list has been re-instated until Rugby First is corrected.

4th August 2010 - Entry Forms for 2010/11 Youth County Cup (U13-U17) sent to Youth Club Reps.

Entry forms for the 2010/11 Youth County Cup (U13-U17) were sent to Youth Club Reps today - deadline for return is 31st August 2010.

10th July 2010 - Leicestershire Girls County Programme will start in September 2010.

We are looking for skilled Coaches who are looking for a challenge and a chance to expand and enhance their coaching careers.

Girls Rugby is increasing well across our County and I ask any of you who have never coached girls to say yes to this exciting opportunity.
