COACH LICENSING INFORMATION

Application Process - What do you need to do?

If you "assist" but have not attended an RFU coaching course prior to 6th January 2009
You need do nothing. In the RFU's eyes you are classified as an assistant and cannot coach independently. It goes without saying however that your input as an "assistant coach" is nevertheless valued by the club and you can continue as normal within existing guidelines including maintaining a current "CRB check" and seeking to attend a Rugby Ready course as soon as possible.

If you are due to attend an RFU coaching course after 6th January 2009
You need do nothing if you have applied using the online application form. If you applied some time ago you will have to use the online application form to enable the licensing process. Future course applications should all be made on the online application form.

If you are qualified by a recognised RFU coaching qualification prior to 6th January 2009
You need to apply for the new Coach Licence ASAP. Where accurate and current email addresses were available (as of 06/01/2009) you should already have had an email from the RFU.

What happens next?

The first stage is for the RFU to deal with the licence applications. Following this, you should seek details of Continuous Personal Development (CPD) course dates which are organised locally and further details can be obtained from your CCC.

A licence, a welcome letter and a number of magazines (issued quarterly), will then be despatched to your home address. You are encouraged to attend 3 CPD courses over the 3 year validity period of the licence in order to retain your status as a RFU licensed coach. NB you need to keep your CRB check current as a licence will not be issued or be valid unless you have at least 6 months until the CRB expiry date.
